It’s the last week to sign up for my writing workshop with Hawa Hassan on preserving heritage recipes and stories. We have over a dozen people on the list already. Don’t miss out!

More Details

I’m writing this on the heels of a very upsetting daycare transition. Or maybe it’s just reverse culture shock. Today was my child’s first day of daycare. When we got to the center, the teacher came out, took my child, handed him off to another teacher, and closed the door. Without so much of a hi or a bye or a basic greeting. No one introduced themselves. My husband and I were appalled. I was told I wasn’t allowed to even go in and take a peek because “other kids might be scared of us.”

Which is, quite frankly, a lie.

I spent the car ride back home in tears.
